I had a really hard time in school growing up. I fought for Cs on my report cards and every turn I took, it seemed like my teachers thought I was not trying. But, I was trying very hard. In fact I would study five hours a night. I would scrape and claw for that low grade point average. I would cry and pass out while studying at home only to fail or barely pass my tests. I have a major form of dysgraphia and dyslexia. But, I am a Children's Book Author and you can be one too.
It does not matter if you have bad grades in school. There are a lot of great minds out there that never went to college or flunked out of high school. Some of them just dropped out. I am not encouraging this at all. I went to four colleges. I have Associates degrees in film and television, so I learned a lot about writing stories and story structure at college. I excelled in college, because they gave me a hands on opportunities to show what I knew. Film school was the perfect place for me. You have to find the perfect place for you. There are many different thoughts in learning. You just have to learn which method sticks in your mind and go with it.
"How the man Became the Moon" was drawn in its integrity on a 12 hour trip I took as a freelance camera man in 2012. I drew it on my iPad. Then I added the words. Yes, I made the story last, because I knew there were some elements I could get away with and still have a rhymed story at the end. You can write the story first, draw first, and do whatever works for you the best.
I am an Author. Never in this history of the world has it been easier to get your ideas onto a page, to captivate your own fans, and to build a career as an Author. I do not think it is about making one book, but making many books, and using every tool you have to make it happen. In this book I will tell you how to write a story, draw your illustrations, and to publish your book through apps. Now is the time. Don't be afraid. Don't ask a publisher if you can make a book. Just go do it.
