Effective Follow-up Strategies for a Successful Fundraising Event

Layne McDonald. Ph.D.

Hosting a successful fundraising event takes a lot of planning, preparation and hard work. But the work doesn't end after the event is over. In order to truly make the most of your fundraising efforts, it's important to follow-up with your guests and thank them for their support. This guide will provide you with a set of optimized steps to ensure your follow-up process is a success.

  1. Compile a list of all attendees: Collect the contact information of everyone who attended the event, including their names and email addresses.

  2. Send thank-you emails or letters: Within a few days of the event, send out thank-you emails or letters to all attendees. Be sure to express your gratitude for their support and attendance.

  3. Share the final fundraising tally: In your thank-you message, include the final fundraising tally. This will give attendees an idea of how successful the event was and how their contributions helped the cause.

  4. Send a survey: After a week or two, send a survey to all attendees. Ask for their feedback on the event and gather ideas for future fundraisers.

  5. Analyze the survey results: Review the survey responses and analyze the feedback. Identify areas that were successful and areas that could be improved.

  6. Use feedback to plan future events: Use the feedback from the survey to plan future fundraising events. Make sure to incorporate the suggestions and ideas from attendees to make your next event even more successful.

  7. Keep your supporters engaged: Keep your supporters engaged by providing them with updates on the progress and impact of the funds raised from the event.
