(Matthew 24:6) In other words: don't be surprised, and don't be shaken. The world is broken. It has been since Genesis 3. Violence, deception, power struggles, grief: these are not new. What is new is the 24/7 information cycle that makes it feel like the sky is falling every single day. But Jesus calls us to something different. Not denial. Not numbness. Not tribalism. Steady, grounded faithfulness. Here's what that looks like in practical terms: 1. Mourn Without Losing Hope When children and teachers are killed in a school, we don't rush past it. We don't "spin" it to fit a narrative. We grieve. We weep with those who weep (Romans 12:15). Jesus wept at the tomb of His friend (John 11:35), and so can we. But we also remember: death does not get the last word. Jesus does. 2. Pray Specifically, Not Generally It's easy to say, "I'll pray for the world." He didn't promise us a problem-free life. He promised us His presence in the middle of the mess.
