How to Use LM Book: Plan, Write, Design, and Export a Complete Book
Choose a book path, build the structure, write chapter by chapter, organize front and back matter, set interior design, preview the reading order, and export PDF or EPUB.
Built for Authors writing fiction, nonfiction, memoir, devotionals, children’s books, study guides, and more.
You will move from a blank project to a structured manuscript with publishing information, design choices, and real export files kept in one recoverable LM project.
Before you start
Create a new LM Book project and choose the kind of book you are making. The tool supports multiple starting paths and keeps the manuscript, structure, book matter, covers, and export decisions together.
Step 1: Choose the book path
Select the starting type that best matches the book: fiction, nonfiction, memoir, Christian or faith, cookbook, journal or planner, children’s, study guide, documentary or true story, or custom.
Step 2: Define the promise and structure
Use the planning framework that fits the project, then set the working title, target length, and structural approach before polishing individual pages.
Step 3: Write in the chapter binder
Create and reorder chapters, write in the rich editor, keep chapter notes, and add supported images or charts where they genuinely serve the reader.
Step 4: Build the publishing matter
Turn front and back matter on or off deliberately and fill in the sections your book actually needs, including title, copyright, introduction, acknowledgements, author information, resources, or discussion material.
Step 5: Choose the interior and cover references
Set trim size, interior style, and page density. Add front and back cover art references so the project carries the publishing decisions with the manuscript.
Step 6: Preview and export
Review the reading order, then generate the available print-oriented PDF and reflowable EPUB. Inspect each file in a separate reader or destination before considering it finished.
Make the workflow better
Do not wait until the end to think about front matter.
Finish a rough draft before endlessly polishing chapter one.
Inspect exports in the destination where readers will actually open them.
Use versions before a major structural rewrite.
Questions people ask
Can LM Book export PDF and EPUB?
The current beta includes print-oriented PDF output and a reflowable EPUB 3 package from the book project.
Does LM Book publish directly to every retailer or printer?
No. Destination-specific requirements such as bleed, spine, barcode, retailer policy, and final upload rules still need to be checked for the service you choose.
Open the tool and make something real.
A tutorial matters when it gets you moving. Start with a real project, keep the first version simple, and improve it as you learn.
