LM Script 1.0.2 + Film Studio 0.14.0: Write Once, Carry the Story Into Production

LM Script and LM Film Studio now work as two focused rooms in one filmmaking path: the script remains the source of truth for story facts while production owns schedules, departments, costs, dailies and execution.

Beta test updateThis article documents what is working now, what it can do for users, and the workflow we want real testers to pressure-test.

The user problem we are solving

Writers often finish a scene and then a producer, assistant director or filmmaker begins rebuilding the same information in spreadsheets, breakdown software, call sheets and notes. LM is testing a cleaner handoff.

What LM Script can do

  • Screenplay formatting and scene navigation.

  • Characters, locations, props and story metadata attached to the script.

  • Story structure, revision work and production-minded notes.

  • Save and version the writing without turning the page into a production dashboard.

What Film Studio can do

  • Receive the production-ready facts that belong downstream.

  • Build scene breakdowns, shoot days, departments and readiness.

  • Track cast, crew, locations, props, wardrobe, art, sound and practical needs.

  • Review Drive-linked dailies and keep production notes around the footage.

  • Track post-production decisions through picture, sound, music, color, titles, credits, QC and delivery.

The sync rule

Script owns story facts. Film Studio owns execution. A script change can update the story information that production depends on, but it should not erase shoot dates, vendor choices, department assignments, production costs, approvals, dailies or producer notes.

What we want filmmakers to test

  • Change a scene in Script and confirm Film Studio receives the right update.

  • Add production decisions in Film Studio and confirm a later script sync does not erase them.

  • Move between writing, prep and production without wondering which app owns the information.

  • Test the workflow on a real short, documentary, church story or independent production rather than a fake sample.
