"God’s Design for Love" by Dr. Layne McDonald (Digital oils on iPad / Procreate) Love isn’t just a feeling—it’s a covenant. In a world where relationships often crumble under pressure, God’s design for love offers something better: commitment rooted in Christ. Scripture Foundation “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” — Ephesians 5:25 (NIV) Marriage is meant to mirror Christ’s selfless, sacrificial love for His people. God’s Blueprint for Relationships Christ at the Center — A shared faith anchors the relationship. Mutual Submission — Both partners serve one another. Covenant, Not Contract — Commitment through all seasons. Avoiding Common Relationship Traps Unequal yoking (2 Corinthians 6:14). Poor communication habits. Ignoring red flags for the sake of romance. A Personal Story I’ve counseled couples who thought their wedding day was the finish line. In reality, it’s the starting line. The ones who thrived were those who prayed together, forgave quickly, and laughed often. Practical Steps for Healthy Relationships Pray for your future or current spouse daily. Keep dating after marriage—pursue each other. Surround your relationship with wise, godly counsel. Reflection Questions How does your view of love align with God’s design? What habits could strengthen your relationship? Who can mentor or guide you in your relationship journey? Call to Action If you’re single—pray for your future spouse with specificity. If you’re married—pray together daily for unity, intimacy, and purpose.
