Recent studies show that American children spend about 7 hours a day on screens, whether it's smartphones, tablets, or computers. This constant exposure can lead to feelings of entitlement and discontent, as kids are bombarded with idealized images of others' lives. Acknowledging these influences is essential. The Bible offers timeless wisdom that can help us navigate these modern challenges. For instance, in Proverbs 4:23 , we are reminded to "guard our hearts," applying to how we manage our children's exposure to digital content. Biblical Insights on Selflessness The teachings found in the Bible provide a clear foundation for instilling values of selflessness. A key verse is Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV): "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." This verse is a guiding principle for parents. By emphasizing humility and nurturing the importance of other people's needs, we can help our children embrace a selfless mindset. Practical Strategies for Teaching Selflessness 1.
