The heartbreak in British Columbia is a sobering reminder that violence and tragedy don't discriminate by location or community size. These were real families, real students, real futures cut short. In moments like these, we're called to grieve with those who grieve (Romans 12:15) and to pray for communities we may never visit but who carry burdens we can help bear through intercession.

The Olympic victories offer a welcome contrast: moments of human excellence, dedication, and joy. These athletes represent years of sacrifice, discipline, and perseverance. They remind us that beauty and achievement still exist in the world, even when the headlines are heavy. As Philippians 4:8 encourages us, "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable: if anything is excellent or praiseworthy: think about such things."

And the Epstein hearing? It's a sobering reminder that justice delayed is not justice denied: but it sure feels that way to survivors. The Bible is clear that the powerful will be held accountable (Luke 12:48). When systems fail to deliver transparency and protection, we're right to demand better.

First, pray. Pray for the families in Tumbler Ridge. Pray for clarity and wisdom for leaders making decisions about border security and airspace. Pray for survivors of abuse waiting for justice. Pray for our Olympians representing the country with excellence.

Second, stay informed without becoming overwhelmed. You don't need to doomscroll through every hot take and conspiracy theory. You've got the facts. You can engage the day with clarity instead of chaos.

As Isaiah 26:3 promises: "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."
