While nations rely on their strategic resources, the believer is reminded that "some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." In the AG tradition, we emphasize the "Prince of Peace." While we recognize the biblical validity of a nation’s right to defend its people and the concept of "Just War" to protect the innocent, we also recognize that true, lasting peace cannot be found through the destruction of resources alone. It requires a transformation of the human heart. We are called to be "peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9). This means praying for leaders to have wisdom that "comes from above" (James 3:17): wisdom that is pure, peace-loving, and considerate. As we see the "resources of war" being disrupted, our prayer is that the resources of grace would be poured out, leading to a cessation of violence and a restoration of dignity for all people caught in the crossfire.
