In the Gospel of John, Jesus offers a reality check that is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). This is not a promise that we will be shielded from the news of wars or the reality of economic shifts. It is a promise that these things do not have the final word.

When we read about naval blockades and airstrikes, the natural human response is "fight or flight": a tightening of the chest and a surge of anxiety. However, Psalm 46:10 invites us into a different posture: "Be still, and know that I am God." To "be still" in the Hebrew context (Raphah) means to let go, to weaken our grip, or to surrender our need to control the outcome.

We can know what is happening in the Strait of Hormuz without letting it shake our spiritual foundation. The One who calmed the sea with a word is still on the throne.

Our role is to be peacemakers: interceding for the diplomats, praying for the safety of the innocent, and reflecting the calm of Christ to a world that is increasingly prone to panic.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, steady our hearts when the headlines feel loud. Help us stay informed without becoming fearful. Teach us to trust Your rule above every conflict, pray for those in danger, and walk in Your peace today. Amen.
