How to pray with expectation for God to move?
To pray with expectation, you must shift your perspective from a "beggar" pleading for crumbs to a "Child of God" standing on the promises of a loving Father. Expectant prayer is the act of coming to God already convinced of His goodness, rooted in His Word, and watching with anticipation for Him to fulfill His character in your situation.
Miracles: The Norm, Not the Exception
Have you ever felt like a miracle was something that only happened to other people? Maybe you’ve viewed a divine breakthrough as a rare lightning strike: beautiful if it hits, but impossible to count on.
In my book Miracle Mindset, specifically in Chapter 16, I dive deep into this reality: Miracles are not meant to be the exception; they are meant to be your expectation.
When we look at the life of Jesus, we don’t see a Savior who was surprised by miracles. We see a Leader who walked in a constant state of divine overflow because He knew exactly who His Father was. For the believer, especially those leading in the marketplace, walking in favor isn't a "bonus" feature of faith. It is the natural result of a life lived in alignment with the King.

The Foundation: Identity as a Child of God
Before you can pray with expectation, you have to know whose you are. If you approach God wondering if He’s in a good mood or if you’ve "earned" a hearing, your prayers will always be tentative.
But when you realize you are a Child of God, everything changes. A child doesn’t ask for dinner with a "maybe" in their heart; they ask because they know their parent provides. Your expectation is not based on your performance; it is based on God’s promise.
To pray with expectation means:
Recalling His Character: Remind yourself that He is a Provider, Healer, and Way-maker before you even state your request.
Anchoring in the Word: Find a scripture that matches your need. If you need wisdom for a business deal, stand on James 1:5.
Rejecting the "If" Mentality: Stop asking "if" God can move and start thanking Him that He is moving.
Shifting from "If" to "When"
Expectation is "faith in the future tense." It’s the difference between saying "I hope God shows up" and "I am watching to see how God shows up."
In leadership, this is a game-changer. When you lead a team, a family, or a project with an expectant heart, you create an atmosphere where breakthroughs can happen. You stop managing from a place of scarcity and start leading from a place of divine favor. You begin to look for the "small clouds" on the horizon, just like Elijah did, knowing the rain is coming.

Practical Steps to Pray with Expectation
If you want to see miracles become the norm in your life, try these three practical steps:
Pray Specifically: Vague prayers get vague answers. If you need a breakthrough in your marriage, ask for a specific conversation to go well. If you need favor in your career, ask for a specific door to open.
Give Thanks in Advance: This is the highest form of expectation. Thanking God before the miracle arrives proves that you believe it’s already settled in heaven.
Take the "Expectant Step": If you’re praying for rain, bring an umbrella. If you’re praying for a new opportunity, update your resume. Faith without works is dead, but faith with expectation is unstoppable.
The Life-Changing Truth
The moment you decide that God’s favor is your "True North," the barriers that once seemed impassable begin to crumble. You weren't created to live in a cycle of "just getting by." You were created for overflow. When you pray with expectation, you are simply agreeing with what God has already said about you: that you are loved, you are chosen, and His grace is sufficient for every single thing you face today.
