The United States military confirmed Saturday that two American service members were killed and one remains missing after Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks targeted a base in Jordan. Four other service members were evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and later discharged.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the attacks mark the first direct Iranian-fire fatalities for American forces since the early stages of the conflict. Jordan's military said it intercepted approximately 10 Iranian missiles overnight.
The strikes come amid a seventh consecutive night of U.S. operations against Iranian infrastructure, including surveillance sites, military logistics hubs, underground weapons storage facilities, and maritime capabilities. Iranian officials acknowledged damage to bridges, tunnels, and a major highway toward Bandar Abbas, as well as electricity and desalination infrastructure in Hormozgan province.
Centered on the Cross:
In moments like these, our hearts turn first to the families of the fallen. Scripture reminds us that the Lord is "near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). These are not just statistics. They are sons, daughters, parents, and friends who gave their lives in service.
We are called to pray for peace : not a peace built on fragile ceasefires, but the peace that passes understanding, which comes through Jesus Christ. We pray for our leaders to seek wisdom, for our military personnel to be protected, and for our enemies to encounter the transforming love of God.
As news swirls with fear and uncertainty, we anchor ourselves in the truth that God is sovereign over the nations. He is not surprised by what unfolds. Our response is not panic, but prayer. Not division, but unity in Christ. Not rage, but a call for justice tempered with mercy.
How to Respond:
Pray for the families of the fallen service members and for the missing soldier's safe return. Pray for wisdom for U.S. and international leaders navigating this crisis. Pray for the people of Iran and the Middle East who are caught in the crossfire. Stay informed without being consumed. Let faith, not fear, guide your heart.
