News: Pakistani Cargo Plane With Five Crew Vanishes Over Arabian Sea : Search Underway

A K2 Airways Boeing 737-400 cargo plane carrying five crew members vanished from radar Tuesday night while en route from Sharjah, UAE to Karachi, Pakistan. The aircraft reported a navigation system malfunction just three minutes before losing contact, then began a rapid and erratic descent — dropping 5,000 feet, rising 6,000 feet, and then plunging again before disappearing from screens at around 1,100 feet over the Arabian Sea.

A large-scale search-and-rescue operation is underway involving the Pakistan Navy, Air Force, civilian agencies, and a merchant vessel. Rough seas have complicated the effort. Investigators are analyzing the final radar data, which showed unusual altitude fluctuations in the aircraft's last moments. The 27-year-old freighter had been converted from passenger service in 2012 and had not flown since June 28 before this flight.

Centered on the Cross: When a plane goes silent over the sea, it reminds us how fragile life truly is. Every headline about loss is a call to hold our loved ones close and to hold our faith firm. Scripture tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Let's pray for the crew members and their families — for rescue if possible, for comfort if not, and for peace that passes understanding in the midst of uncertainty.
