World: Gaza Airstrikes Continue as Truce Talks Stall : Humanitarian Concerns Mount

Airstrikes and military operations in Gaza have continued despite ceasefire efforts, while truce talks remain stalled and humanitarian conditions worsen.

Israeli military operations have expanded in recent weeks. IDF maps indicate control over roughly 64 to 80 percent of Gaza’s territory, up from the earlier phase target of about 50 percent. These access-restricted zones now cover much of the strip, limiting movement and complicating aid delivery.

On July 6, Hamas announced it was resigning its civil administration and dissolving its "Gaza government." Some saw that as a possible step toward a new civilian governing structure, but Hamas remains armed, and that remains a major obstacle to any broader transition.

The humanitarian toll continues to grow. Since the ceasefire was announced on October 10, 2025, health authorities report more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in ongoing strikes and clashes. Aid groups also warn that restricted crossings and reduced truck access are deepening food insecurity.

The Israeli government says its actions are driven by security concerns and argues that a full withdrawal or civilian transition cannot happen while Hamas remains armed. Israeli officials also say food entering Gaza is sufficient in volume and blame delivery problems inside the territory for some of the breakdown.

Hamas and Palestinian representatives argue that Israel’s expanding military control violates the earlier ceasefire framework and blocks any real civilian transition. They say displacement, restricted access, and delays in reconstruction are preventing meaningful progress.

The crisis matters because civilians are carrying the heaviest burden. For families in Gaza, stalled diplomacy means continued instability, danger, and worsening living conditions. The breakdown also raises the risk of wider regional fallout if no credible civilian and security arrangement is reached.
