World: US Strikes Iran, Iran Strikes Back : Fragile Ceasefire Hangs by a Thread

Good morning. There is breaking news out of the Middle East that demands our attention — and our prayers.

Overnight, the United States launched a series of powerful strikes on Iranian targets — more than 80 sites — including missile launch positions, air defense systems, command centers, and over 60 IRGC fast-attack boats near the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes came in direct response to Iranian attacks on three oil tankers in that critical waterway.

Iran did not wait to respond. Within hours, Tehran launched retaliatory strikes on U.S. military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait. Sirens sounded in both nations. The IRGC claims to have struck 85 American sites. The U.S. says it shot down incoming threats and that damage was limited.

NATO called the U.S. action "absolutely necessary." The White House also revoked Iran's temporary license to sell oil openly, tightening the economic pressure.

Here is what we know: Both sides are trading fire. A fragile 14-point ceasefire memorandum signed just last month is now in grave danger. Commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz — through which a fifth of the world's oil passes — has been disrupted. President Trump is in Ankara for a NATO summit as these events unfold.

Let's center this on the Cross. In times like these, our hearts can race toward fear, anger, or despair. But Jesus calls us to a different posture. He said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God" (Matthew 5:9). We can pray for wisdom for leaders on all sides, for protection of innocent civilians, for de-escalation, and for a peace that is not merely the absence of war but the presence of justice and righteousness. Stay informed. Do not lose your peace. The Lord is still on the throne.
