Sometimes the best news comes on four legs.
Meet Tsunami — a Border Collie who has become a national hero in Venezuela. After the devastating twin earthquakes on June 24 (magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5) that claimed over 3,600 lives, Tsunami and his handler from the K-SAR ECID rescue unit worked tirelessly in the rubble.
Using his extraordinary sense of smell, Tsunami helped locate and save at least 13 trapped survivors — including a 60-year-old man who had been buried for six days. Think about that. Six days. And this dog found him.
Tsunami had already served in rescue missions in Turkey, Syria, and previous Venezuelan disasters. After this final, heroic deployment, he is retiring. He has earned it.
Let's center this on the Cross. Scripture tells us that God's care extends to all of His creation. In Genesis, God looked at what He made and called it "good." The loyalty, courage, and life-saving instinct of a dog like Tsunami reflect something of the Creator's design — a reminder that goodness still shows up, even in the darkest rubble. Be encouraged. God is not done writing redemptive stories.
